Born in Berlin, he first played in a band called ″Vanguard″ in 1974–1977 composing their own Rock Opera. Concerts where conducted with compelling artistic video projections from a then young French artist. In 1978, Uwe joined the band ″Odessa″ with the bassplayer Jürgen Dehmel winning the Berlin Music Contest award as ″Best Rock Band″.
