The second album of Russian quintet R-Genium is an example of such work, where the national is tightly connected with the international: the first thing that draws attention to the sound palette of the group is a high share of thrash metal guitar riffs in songs’ arrangements. It’s a really big difference with R-Genium’s foreign colleagues or competitors. But reading the Wonderful Wonderful World booklet it turns out that mix of the album was made by Arkona’s leader Lazarus, and mix itself was proceeded at once-iconic Moscow studio CDM Records. It’s a real connection of the ages, as they say, although this relationship is visible only to the steadfast experts, perfectly mindful of the situation in the smart wing of extreme scene in mid-90s.
